For her depiction of a legendary character in the NBC serial opera "Days of
Our Lives," Alison Sweeney has gained notoriety. Although she may be most
known for her role in one of the most popular television shows ever, she has
also worked on a number of other critically acclaimed film and television
productions. But throughout the past 20 years, she juggled pursuing her job
while also getting married and having children. She continued to pursue her
love of performing while making sure to prioritize her family.
Alison Ann Sweeney, an American actress who was born on September 19, 1976,
has also explored careers as a filmmaker, novelist, and host of reality
television shows.
When she was five years old, Sweeney made her movie debut. But it was an
advertising for a photography business; it wasn't a part in a movie or on
television. But it didn't take her long to make her acting debut; a few
years later, she made an appearance in a "Tales from the Darkside"
episode.
She then had appearances in various TV shows, such as "Family Man" and
"Brand New Life." However, she didn't get her big break via the "Days of Our
Lives" until she was 16 years old, despite being a huge admirer of the
program. She received four Soap Opera Digest Awards, a fan-voted Daytime
Emmy Award, and a Daytime Emmy nomination for her portrayal of Samantha
"Sami" Brady on the program.
In addition to her job, she is a loving wife and mother. In 2019, Sweeney
talked openly about her marriage to David Sanov, who she had known all of
her childhood thanks to their mutual friends' parents.
Sweeney stated to Access Live that she "totally had a crush on him" growing
up, despite the fact that she acknowledged it wasn't love at first sight.
However, it wasn't until much later that they started to feel anything for
one another. She informed her mother immediately away that she wanted him
when she learned that he had been hired as a police officer.
"When I learned that he had become a police officer, I knew I had to go
visit him. I need you to make this happen for me, mom. When I did run into
Sanov, she continued.
In a 2013 interview, she said that she has always been a fan of males in
uniform. I love a man in uniform, she exclaimed. They were wed in
2000.
She occasionally appeared on "Days of Our Lives," but she never actually
left the program. But after being on "Days of Our Lives" for more than 20
years, she revealed in 2014 on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" that she would be
quitting the show.
Sweeney gave an explanation of why she decided to quit the program, citing
the need to prioritize her two children and her family.
"I just have, you know, worked so much and my son (Benjamin) is 9 and my
daughter (Megan) just turned 5, so I just want to be with them and enjoy my
last year," the speaker said. I'll be on 'Days' the entire year," she
declared.
She has also made appearances in a number of other programs over the past
20 years, including "Friends" and "Fear Factor." She also made an attempt at
presenting "The Biggest Loser."
The majority of her significant works in recent years, including "Chronicle
Mysteries" and "The Wedding Veil" trilogy, were made-for-television movies
for Hallmark. She did, however, work on other film and television projects
in between.
She made the decision to quit "Days of Our Lives" once more in 2022 since
her contract on the show hindered her from pursuing her love for creating
and producing tales for Hallmark.
"I love playing Sami, but no, going full-time is not the plan for me," she
stated. "I create and develop material for Hallmark and other streaming
platforms, and I adore having the opportunity to work on my own projects and
produce. It has truly been a delight and a new, exciting, enjoyable task for
me.
The ability to enjoy the best of both worlds makes me feel really
fortunate. Going back to "DAYS" feels like coming home, the actress
continued.
According to her social media updates, Sweeney is enjoying her life right
now since she gets to spend time with her family while simultaneously
producing and appearing in Hallmark movies.
She published a family portrait of her spouse, her two kids, and their pets
in December 2022.
"Despite a busy December, we are forward for Christmas! A good holiday
weekend to you all, Sweeney wished in her Instagram message.
Ben's 18th birthday was celebrated by Sweeney on Instagram in February
2023, and she even "tortured" him into posing for a picture. With her "kind
and sincere" kid, she couldn't believe how quickly time passed.
We learned that he is also brilliant and considerate as he progressed
through school. But his wonderful sense of humor is my favorite because he
enjoys all the same 80s comedy as I love! We are eager to follow his future
developments, she remarked.
In the meanwhile, Sweeney declared in March 2023 that she will reprise her
Hannah Swensen television movie role.
