John Travolta is from an entertainment-oriented family. He chose to become
an actor, as did his five siblings, and his parents were entertainers. At
seventeen, John decided he wanted to pursue a career in acting and dropped
out of high school. Soon after, he was cast in the Broadway production of
"Grease." The actor received his big break and rose to fame five years
later, becoming the country's heartthrob. Despite a hiatus in the 1980s, the
actor's career resumed in the 1990s with a string of successful movies that
solidified his place in the business.
John's interests extend beyond performing. He holds three licenses and is a
qualified pilot. In addition to other aircraft, he is licensed to operate
the Boeing 737, 707, and 747. John constructed and moved into a 550-acre
home in Florida in the late 1990s as a way to showcase his passion for
aviation. Particularly for those wishing to take flights into and out of
their residences, the Jumbolair Aviation Estates were constructed.
John's ambition of having a spot where planes could land in the yard was
realized with the house. The Gulfstream II jet is one of the aircraft parked
in one of the house's pavilions. The multihyphenate is also a vocalist who
has put out many albums, four of which have had hits land in the Top 40 of
the Billboard Hot 100.
In addition to the aforementioned skills, the actor is a devoted father who
loves and looks after his kids, especially in the wake of the death of his
wife Kelly Preston in 2020.
Kelly Preston and John Travolta first crossed paths on the filming of the
1989 film "The Experts." Because the actress was still married to her
ex-husband, Kevin Gage, it was initially the incorrect time.
The happy pair chose to tie the knot twice, in 1991, after many years of
dating. According to Entertainment Tonight, they fled and eloped in Paris,
but as they were not French nationals, there were restrictions on their
behavior, thus it wasn't legal. The US was the location of the second
one.
In April 1992, the couple welcomed Jett, their first child, into the world.
Ella Bleu was the second, in April 2000.
The family suffered tragedy when Jett passed away on a vacation in the
Bahamas in January 2009. It is stated that during a seizure, he struck his
head on a bathtub and died. He was just sixteen.
"Jett had autism." In a 2012 interview, Kelly disclosed that he suffered
from seizures and was diagnosed with Kawasaki Syndrome when he was very
young, as reported by CBS News.
Kelly was 47 years old when she became pregnant, therefore it was extremely
hazardous and dangerous, but John and Kelly still chose to try for another
child.
In a 2012 interview, she revealed to Amanda de Cadenet that she and John
had made several attempts to conceive. In 2010, the couple finally welcomed
Benjamin into their family.
Kelly stated in a 2011 interview with TODAY, "I didn't (consider this
risks)." I simply felt that it was challenging. I never imagined that would
be me at all. We're just incredibly grateful for our good fortune, I
believe.
Kelly said that Benjamin assisted the family in recovering from the
catastrophe, even though they were still grieving the death of their
firstborn.
It's been really restorative. Naturally, as you are aware, we still do this
every day. However, I believe that it has been a very wonderful gift for
many individuals all throughout the world. We've received the most exquisite
letters. And the most exquisitely lovely tones of joy," she said.
In an interview with ABC News in January 2011, John said that they see
Benjamin as "nothing less than a miracle," and that he has grown to be an
important member of their family.
"He's breathed fresh life and purpose into the house. The actor remarked,
"He's given us a fresh start and his presence has made everyone happy who
has only wanted the best for us."
Kelly sadly passed away in 2020 following a two-year battle with breast
cancer. When she passed away, she was 57 years old.
In 2023, John remains a single dad to two of his kids, and their "miracle"
child has grown up since turning 13 in November.
On his Instagram account, the actor posted old videos and pictures of his
kid from his early childhood to his early adolescence. He said, "I can't
believe my baby boy is now a teenager," in the post. Today is Ben's 13th
birthday. My kid, you are loved!”
However, his sister Ella also posted a picture of him from a bygone era
with the heartfelt remark, "Happy Birthday, my sweetest Benjamin! It feels
like yesterday you were this young and now you're 13!!" I cherish
you!🎉️🎉
