The depths of the seas are the location on our planet about which I am most
frightened. You never know what type of enormous, terrifying beasts the
infinite, black ocean could hold. And only a few days ago, off the coast of
Cornwall, England, humans and such enormous monsters had their most recent
encounter.
Lizzie Daly, a scientist, encounters a massive jellyfish while diving. And
by gigantic, I mean at least the size of an adult human. Even though barrel
jellyfish are known to be the largest in their genus, this is the first time
one of that size has been seen.
It is known to grow to this size, but Daly told CBS News that he had never
seen one this size.
“Woah!!!!! To end #WildOceanWeek, we went diving in Falmouth yesterday,
when we stumbled across this HUGE barrel jellyfish. What a way to round off
my experience with marine creatures, the diver tweeted.
Lizzie, who went diving with Dan Abbot, a marine photographer, said the
adventure they were on exceeded her expectations. Their journey was a
component of the Wild Ocean Week program run by the wildlife
presenter.
"Diving with seals, swimming with blue sharks, and generally celebrating
our coasts, #WildOceanWeek is about showcasing how you can immerse yourself
with diverse wildlife right on your doorstep and, most importantly,
supporting those on the forefront of conserving our marine environments,"
Lizzie Daly said in a statement. "I want to bring the audience on the
journey with me so I will be uploading videos and updates live as it happens
throughout the week.
You can witness the amazing—and quite terrifying—moment Lizzie encountered
this enormous marine monster below.
