Mom wants to give son with Down syndrome to foster care, so dad decides to raise baby all on his own(4 photos)

Thousands of infants are born each day all over the world with conditions that set them apart in some manner. Of course, all infants are adorable, and they are all deserving of our love, care, and consideration.

Sadly, not everyone acknowledges this reality. Amazingly, some parents even consider giving up or disowning their kids if they aren't viewed as ideal in their critical eyes upon birth.

Even though we're meant to live in an era of reason and understanding, many newborns with Down syndrome are nonetheless born into a world of ambiguity because of persistent prejudice towards the disorder.

While parenting his son Misha, who has Down syndrome, on his own, a Russian father is working to eradicate any stigma associated with the disease.

According to rumors, 33-year-old Evgeny Anisimov is on a quest to prove to the world that kids with Down syndrome are just as deserving of respect and affection. He is parenting Misha by himself after his wife left the marriage due to her inability to cope with her son's illness.

Just one minute and 39 seconds after the birth of their kid, a doctor broke the bad news to Evgeny and his wife, saying, "I worry that your baby has Down Syndrome."

The father said to Bored Panda: "I didn't know what to do when I found that my baby could have Down syndrome. I thought my current responsibility was to assist my wife and help her through this terrible time by turning off my emotions and igniting my ideas.

We were guaranteed the findings of the analysis in a few days, so I made the decision to hold off on speaking with her until then.

"I recall that after finding out that my baby has Down syndrome, I left the hospital and sobbed, but not for long," he added. My later embarrassment stemmed from these tears. After all, nothing much had altered in my life.

"I still had two limbs and two legs, and my professional expertise had been useless. I had everything I needed with me, including my drive, activity, and curiosity. My son was delivered as expected, everything went according to plan. However, the infant is unique, and his life and future are already of great significance. I'm raging right now! Some type of selfishness is present here! Is this unfair? No, I'm in charge of it. It is obvious that the likelihood was minimal, but even so, you did not undergo an amniocentesis. You accepted responsibility for having the kid you desired. There are a variety of possibilities, after all: autism, cerebral palsy, genetic abnormalities... As I eventually discovered, Down syndrome is not the worst.

Evgeny started researching Down syndrome the exact same evening.

"I discovered that people with Down syndrome can live and work independently in Europe," he added. But that had no bearing on the choice I had already made.

The new father had no intention of abandoning his son. Sadly, his wife didn't share the same sentiments.

He said that he had never considered abandoning his son in an orphanage since doing so would have been cruel. Eventually, he and his wife divorced, and now Evengy is raising Misha by himself.

When a child is born, he inquires into the world, "Am I required here or not?" he said. And I respond, "Son, you are needed!" with confidence. For a normal guy, being with him—even while they are apart—is a regular act. I must stress that I am a regular man, not some sort of hero.

Evegny wants to increase awareness about Down syndrome so that no future parent would think having a kid with the disorder is a punishment or a challenge they can't get past.

"I want all the pieces about Mishka and myself that are being published today to transmit that notion to society and implant it," he said in a statement to Bored Panda. Additionally, I want to encourage and assist individuals who are or will be in a similar circumstance to me by setting an example. I make an effort to contact with people who are close by, and I correspond with others who are a long distance away. I hope others who are struggling right now, just like it was for us, read about us. Don't be afraid! Everything is going to be okay!

I don't know about you, but I believe that Evegny and those like her deserve nothing but the highest accolades. What an inspirational person he is, and Misha is very fortunate to have him as a son.
